Tammy Ames

Owner, Southern Iowa Recycle

“I found my love for construction when I married my best friend In 1991. I started my own business in 1991 and have been a small business owner for a total of 16 years. In order to help Wes’ business flourish, I decided to take a step back from my own business to raise a family. In my time off, I volunteered with youth and in the school system. Also I worked as a part-time Administrative Assistant for A.C. Contracting.

I returned to work in 2010 and stepped away again in 2015 due to a diagnosis of breast cancer. I am currently four years cancer free and am currently back to operating my business. In 2018, I felt that I could give back more to my community and surrounding communities so I formed Southern Iowa Recycle. Southern Iowa Recycle saves millions of pounds of reusable materials from being taken to landfills every year. My goal for Southern Iowa Recycle is to make communities more environmentally friendly and we encourage everyone to help us achieve this!”

Tammy is an emerging woman in business and has made significant strides in just her first few years of Southern Iowa Recycle.
